Eric Kinne

Manager, Grants + Program Development

As Manager of Grants and Program Development at Educate Fairfax, Eric Kinne is proud to serve the students, families, and educators of Fairfax County—his home community and the place that shaped his own educational journey.

A proud graduate of Falls Church High School, Eric began his career in education through Teach For America in the Rio Grande Valley, where he served as both a high school teacher and a program director supporting new educators. Since returning to FCPS, Eric has served as an AVID Coordinator and English teacher at Fairfax High School, and most recently as an AVID Educational Specialist on the College Success Programs team.

With over 20 years of experience as an educator and leader, Eric has focused his work on expanding access and opportunity for all students. Under his leadership, the AVID program grew from 21 schools in 2017–18 to 76 schools in 2025–26, including nearly every Title I school in FCPS, and led to the launch of the first AVID elementary school in 2019. Today, 46 elementary schools implement AVID across the division. For this work, Eric was recognized as one of four national finalists for AVID’s Global Achievement Award in the category of District Leader of the Year.

Eric brings to Educate Fairfax a deep commitment to community engagement, equitable opportunity, and aligning philanthropic support with the strategic goals of FCPS. In his role, he manages the foundation’s growing grant and scholarship portfolio across 199 schools and centers, supports programmatic initiatives, and plays a key role in attracting new funding to support student success.

He believes in the power of collaboration, purposeful partnerships, and investing in students’ potential, because every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Outside of work, Eric enjoys cycling, sneakers, camping, and exploring National Parks with his wife, a dedicated FCPS science teacher, and their two children—both current FCPS students.

Eric is excited to continue advancing Educate Fairfax’s mission by helping to build strong connections between schools, families, and the broader community—turning shared goals into meaningful impact for every student in FCPS.
